Important Information for All DVD/Video Borrowers
- Membership is
available to individuals, for private use only. Individuals must be
over the age of 16 to register. A form of official photographic ID, with your current
Canberra address (e.g. your driver’s licence), is necessary to register as a
borrower.
- We lend only to
the person who has registered with us and will not knowingly lend to
anyone else under your name unless you authorise us to do so (e.g. a parent
may add a child’s name or add their partner’s name, etc.).
- All New Releases are
available for a minimum
2 Day Loan
(i.e. an item is due back before the close of business 2 days after you
borrowed it, regardless of the time of day you took it out = take out Friday
due back on Sunday). New releases may be borrowed up to a maximum of 7 days for $1 per
extra day required (maximum cost is $12.70 for 7 days)
- Extensions of rentals can be
made by contacting us before an item is due back, and can only be extended as described above for
new releases or by the week for older titles. Weekly extensions are only
allowed at the discretion of the management.
- Late fees are applied to all
overdue items & must be paid in full before borrowing again.
- Late fees are
charged at the following rates: for all “New Releases” (very clearly
marked with large “new release” stickers) are charged at $4 per day if late.
- Weekly rentals
are $1 for the first day late and $2 if 2 days late.
- Then if they are
3 to 7 days late it is $1 plus the weekly hire fee again.
- Then if they are
between 8 and 14 days late it is $2 plus the weekly hire fee twice
over.
- If they are 15 or
more days late they incur a $30 replacement fee and the late fee.
- A replacement fee may also be
charged for any lost, damaged or unreturned items.
- Faulty items: Please ensure that your DVD
player and monitor are actually able to play the DVD region and format of any
items borrowed before reporting something as faulty.
- Please assist us to maintain
the quality of our library by treating all items with care whilst in your
possession.
Most DVD problems are the result of mishandling, so please help us keep our
DVDs in good order. Keep videos & DVDs in the storage cases provided,
away from dust, dirt and moisture, and protect them from extremes of hot and
cold temperatures (e.g. don’t leave them sitting in a hot car, etc.)
- Only handle DVDs by their centre rims and edges to avoid surface marks and scratches on the playing surface, if it is
necessary to clean a DVD please first ask us for advice on the appropriate
method and only play discs/ tapes once they are at room temperature.
Please rewind any videotapes before returning them to us.
